DSE ASSESSMENTS, OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH & RISK ASSESSMENTS

 

Whilst first and foremost these types of assessments are generally part of an employer’s duty of care to their staff, companies who have over 5 employees have a legal obligation to have in situ a written Health & Safety Policy.

 

Under current DSE Regulations, employers whose workers regularly use DSE as a significant part of their normal work (daily, for continuous periods of an hour or more) are required to Undertake Risk Assessments of Workstations as well as ensuring that the workstations meet minimum requirements.  Additionally, work activities should be planned to include breaks form their DSE, and the employer should provide eye and eyesight tests as well as spectacles for DSE use if necessary.
